Cirrus is in the Barn

Cirrus has crossed the finish line at 03:11:26 Hawaiian time on Monday morning. We went the last miles under white sails with the jib poled out, with strong winds in the 20 kn range. Approaching the finish line was easy, but crossing it was an adventure! Some 100 feet from the finish line, close to the Pacific Cup buoy, a squall set in with such vigor that the communication with the Finish line by radio failed, and visibility dropped to zero! I sat in the back of the boat and with hand held GPS and VHF radio in my hands and was soaking wet from the rain. That wasn't the last douse - before docking we got two more squalls putting buckets of water on us. Finally, after getting rid of the soaked T-shirts we donned the Aloha shirts and posed for the photos. Kisses from the spouses, Mai-Tais and sinful sweet Hawaiian pineapples bites rounded the picture.

We made it again!

Aloha and Mahalo to all on-boat and on-shore crew and our faithful readers,
Ulli

Wow, what a finish! (I'm so glad that our delivery went smoothly at the finish, and in the daytime!) Anyway, it's good to have you all on land and safe with no injuries. And it was a good trip with some challenges to overcome. So congratulations and take care. - Jan

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum erfolgreichen Abschluss des Rennens.
Die Crew hat sich nun erholsame Tage auf Hawaii verdient. Anstatt Can-Tina
ist nun wohl ein Star-Restaurant an-
gesagt. Hat Cirrus den 3.Platz in der
Division gehalten? Schöne Tage für Euch alle wünschen
Klärchen & Wolfgang

There once was a head from Nantucket
It was bad news, there's no way to duck it,
The bolts did erode,
On the old commode.
Now Cirrus has a brand new flush bucket.

Hello friends and supporters. I have now had a hot shower, a good night's sleep, and a cup of coffee with no salt water in it. My eternal gratitude to Lou and Kim Ickler for their limitless hospitality.

We went out to dinner last night at a place called Lucy's in Kailua. I can recommend it highly. Best mahi-mahi I've had in a long long time.

Even in the barn, Cirrus continues to support the community: there was an issue this morning about assembling the trophies. There was an urgent need for a certain size of screw driver. I ran to the boat to rifle the tool drawer. On the way there, I noticed that my glasses were falling off my face. A tiny screw had come loose. Way loose, but not completely fallen out. Fortunately, Bill was at the boat and was able to supply all my tool requirements and to help me reassemble my glasses. Crisis averted.

I see the new picture. It looks as though at least two of you were shaving on this trip. Shaven or otherwise, you all look great! I assume Valerie is, once again, responsible for the team shirts. They're the best yet!
Enjoy trophy night!
